Preliminary Ecological Appraisal
A Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) is an initial survey that identifies potential ecological constraints and opportunities on a site, including habitats and protected species. It informs planning decisions and determines whether further detailed ecological surveys are needed.
River Condition Assessment
A River Condition Assessment (RCA) evaluates the ecological health and physical characteristics of a river, including water quality, habitat diversity, and the presence of wildlife. It supports environmental monitoring, conservation efforts, and sustainable water management.
Bat roost assessment (buildings or trees)
A bat roost assessment, including a Preliminary Roost Assessment (PRA) and Ground-Level Tree Assessment (GLTA), identifies features in buildings or trees that may support bat roosts. It evaluates habitat suitability and determines whether further detailed surveys are needed to protect bats under wildlife legislation.
Protected species surveys
Phase II species surveys are detailed ecological studies that follow initial assessments to confirm the presence, population size, and distribution of protected or notable species. They provide the data needed to inform impact assessments and guide mitigation or conservation measures.
