  • Pre-development (baseline) BNG assessment

An assessment that evaluates the existing biodiversity value of a site before any development occurs, using habitat types, condition, and area. It forms the foundation for calculating biodiversity losses and gains, guiding mitigation and enhancement measures to achieve a net positive outcome.

  • Post-development BNG assessment

A calculation of the projected biodiversity value of a site after development, based on planned habitat creation, enhancement, or retention. This assessment aims to evaluate whether or not the development will deliver a measurable net gain in biodiversity compared to the pre-development baseline.

  • BNG feasibility assessment

An assessment that investigates whether a site is suitable for habitat creation and enhancement for the purpose of generating and selling off-site biodiversity units. This assessment can also be conducted for developers wishing to compare the potential of different sites for delivering a 10% BNG before progressing a development proposal.

  • Landscape & planting plan (BNG-focused)

A BNG-focused Landscape and planting plan outlines the design and placement of habitats to enhance biodiversity and meet Biodiversity Net Gain targets. It ensures that landscaping contributes to ecological value through appropriate habitat and species selection and long-term management.

  • Habitat Management & Monitoring Plan

A Habitat Management & Monitoring Plan (HMMP) sets out long-term strategies for maintaining, enhancing, and monitoring habitats created or retained as part of a development. It ensures that biodiversity objectives, such as those required for Biodiversity Net Gain, are achieved and sustained over time.

  • Biodiversity Gain Plan

A Biodiversity Gain Plan is a formal document required under the Environment Act 2021 that details how a development will achieve at least a 10% net gain in biodiversity. It outlines baseline data, proposed habitat enhancement and creation (on-site and off-site), and the purchase of statutory biodiversity credits to ensure measurable ecological improvements.

  • Assistance with purchasing off-site biodiversity units

We can assist developers in acquiring the biodiversity units when on-site habitat enhancement and creation can't fully meet the Biodiversity Net Gain requirements. Our assistance includes identifying suitable providers of biodiversity units and ensuring that the units purchased meet the specific needs of the development (with regards to the type and location of the biodiversity units, and the trading rules).
